Yogis Stress Too
by Samantha Huston
In my training as a stress management professional and certified biofeedback
technician I heard something that has stuck with me these last few years. Its a concept
I love to share with my clients. “It’s not that yogis don’t stress, its that they know how to
recover.” My online instructor said this in his thick French accent very playfully with a
twinkle in his eye. He went on to explain that life is full of stress, we cannot be alive and
not experience stress. We can however learn to manage and recover from stress more
effectively. Many of us are living in stressful environments. It is up to us to ‘come down’
from time to time and allow our bodies and minds to balance. Yogis have proven that
we are capable of maintaining balance even in extreme situations, for example,
meditating naked in the snow!
Quantum physicists have been working diligently to show that the body is controlled and
regulated by a quantum energy field. This field impacts our level of wellbeing. With
advanced technology, we can now look into this field and measure subtle energetic
information stored there. The equipment acts as a ‘sixth sense’ allowing us to become
aware of disturbances in our energy field. The system detects stress patterns by
scanning the body much like software scans a computer for viruses. Then, by sending
balancing energies into the field, stress patterns can be broken up and released. These
patterns may be physical, emotional, or spiritual.
It’s taken quite a while for science to catch up with what yogic technology came up with
thousands of years ago. We are finding out more and more that when we relieve the
stress, the body can heal itself. Reaching our full potential is well within our grasp.
When we take responsibility our energy bodies and learn how to maintain balance we
will excel in our overall wellness and enjoyment of life.
